FULL Hospira Lunch

Time: 12.15 - 1.45pm
Venue: 16th District, 3rd Floor, Room 116
Open to registered delegates

As a global leading provider of medication management systems focused on patient safety, Hospira helps hospitals worldwide improve the safety and cost of patient care. Medication errors, patient safety during medication administration, are recognised worldwide as contributing to extended patient care and the associated financial costs. There are many reasons that contribute to medication errors: misinterpreted handwriting, drug name confusion and simply keying in wrong infusion rates. In 2006, a landmark study by the U.S Institute of Medicine reported that medication errors occur at the rate of one per patient per day in U.S. hospitals, costing $8750 per hospital. Impact of additional care, lost income and disability, the total annual cost may be as high as $29bn. This problem is a global issue and is not only limited to the U.S. hospital.

By preventing adverse drug events, healthcare costs are reduced and patient care improved. Infusion devices like safety software, wireless communications, real-time benchmark reporting, integrations to clinical information systems have contributed to improving care. The Hospira Luncheon Symposium will discuss these new technology advances and showcase the advancements of the abovementioned. We invite HIMSS Asia delegates to join Hospira for lunch and an informative thought provoking discussion. Spaces are limited so please register early to avoid disappointment.
