Healthcare environment is complex, dynamic and critical for the most vulnerable individuals in our society. Healthcare has a dual responsibility – treat and bring back to health, people with disease; and prevent the development of disease in healthy people. Data Analytics in healthcare environment faces many challenges relating to collection, mining and analysis of patient health data. Collection of health data is closely linked to the clinical protocols, workflows and processes connecting the patient to the provider, whether at hospital or home. It needs the integration of multiple data sources from physician, nurses, pharmacists, caregivers, field workers and medical devices to be able to gather a real picture of the patient.
How do we bring together systems, processes and people for improving the delivery of care? In the backdrop of our experiences in implementing initiatives for patient safety and better outcomes, we’ll be sharing the challenges and successes of these programs in a tertiary healthcare setting.
Key Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand how electronic data and the data generation system & process impacts the analysis
2. Identify opportunities for improving outcomes and possibility of early intervention
3. Challenges in utilizing such capabilities in healthcare environment
