| 09.10 | Roadmap of Health IT – Health IT Specialist Certification in Japan Prof Michio Kimura, MD, PhD Professor of Radiology, Hamamatsu Medical University, Japan In 2008, Rockefeller Foundation called for a workshop for Health IT for developing countries. One of the outcomes is the Roadmap for Health IT. In this presentation, this roadmap will be introduced. According to this, faculty development is very important for this purpose. In Japan, JAMI (Japan Association for Medical Informatics) has been doing certification tests for Health IT specialist for 4 years and more than 3000 specialists were certified. Details of this certification will also be included in the presentation. |

Examples of how TPC enables care coordination to improve quality and efficiency of care delivery will be illustrated in this presentation. |

However, the IT penetration for GPs in most countries is extremely poor comparing to the computerization rate in hospital settings. Factors, challenges and obstacles will be analyzed and discussed. |

Featured Speakers
Dr Wong is the Chairman of the Clinical Informatics Program Executive Group of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority. He is a clinician currently appointed as the Consultant Geriatrician and Chief of Integrated Medical Services of Ruttonjee & Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals in Hong Kong. He is also Immediate Past President of the Asia Pacific Association for Medical Informatics (APAMI) and currently Chairman of the Hong Kong Society of Medical Informatics. |
Dr Goh is a practicing health informatician with special interest in strategic information system planning (SISP) and knowledge management. Actively involved in clinical information systems implementation and project management in NHS hospitals, he was also part of the Y2K business continuity planning taskforce in 1999. Dr Goh currently oversees the implementation and operations of over 28 MOH hospitals IT projects, focusing on the implementation strategy, business process reengineering and change management aspects; manages the HIS implementation of the National Heart Institute and Assunta Hospital in Kuala Lumpur. He holds leadership positions in International organizations, such as IMIA and APAMI. |
Currently Dr Kwak serves as a visiting professor at Kyungpook National University’s School of Medicine in the Medical Informatics Department. In addition, he is also the Chairman of Technical Committee 215 on Health Informatics through ISO. As chair for the developing Countries Workshop planning group, Dr Kwak was instrumental in organising the educational content of the workshop. Dr Kwak also serves as the chair of the HIMSS AsiaPac Conference Organising Committee. |
As founder and Chairman of Health Level Seven India, Dr Salam has been instrumental in creating the HL7 talent pool in India. Dr Salam was a lead member of the study to create a plan for the first RHIO in India for the Government of Maharashtra. Dr Salam has contributed over 100 articles in various publications in the healthcare domain. An active public speaker, Dr Salam is associated with various healthcare bodies in India and abroad. |

Mr Yoshitaka Tanaka is Deputy Director of the Office for Social Security Card in the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. He is a graduate of Kyoto University and University of Southern California Gould School of Law (LL.M., M.C.L.). Mr. Tanaka is also an attorney at law admitted in the state of New York. |
