Shaping the Future of Asia Pacific's
Transformation in Healthcare IT

HIMSS AsiaPac12 Conference and Exhibition registered yet another outstanding edition of discussions and presentations on healthcare IT from an Asia Pacific perspective.

Drawing over 1,900 participants at this year's edition in Singapore, HIMSS AsiaPac12 once again presented attendees with a comprehensive view of the prevalent trends and vital issues affecting healthcare IT from around the region and across the globe.

The three-day event, held at the Marina Bay Sands from 17-19 September 2012, truly cemented HIMSS AsiaPac's position as the premier gathering in Asia for healthcare IT players and policy makers.

HIMSS AsiaPac12 continues to strengthen its role as the leading platform for delegates to experience emerging technologies and to engage in discussions on enhancing patient care and outcomes using IT.

This was the second HIMSS AsiaPac Conference & Exhibition held in Singapore and seventh edition in the region. The event saw a turnout from 35 countries with more than 80 speakers from around the world and 70 presentations at the Symposia and Conference.

Guest-of-Honour, Mr. Gan Kim Yong, the Minister for Health of Singapore, gave the opening address on 18 September. "IT will play a key role in the transformation of healthcare services going forward. I commend the HIMSS organisation for creating this awareness through its various activities and programmes" said Minister Gan.

Dr. Chong Yoke Sin, Chairwoman of the HIMSS AsiaPac12 Organizing Committee & CEO of Integrated Health Information, Pte, Ltd. gave the welcoming address.

The opening keynote address was delivered by Dr. Blackford Middleton of Harvard Medical School and Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. In his address, Dr. Middleton described research and development efforts at Partners HealthCare System and Harvard Medical School focusing on clinical decision support (CDS) and knowledge sharing.

About fifty sessions on key topics of HIT X.O, Mobile Health, Care in the Community and Standards & Interoperability were presented throughout the two-day conference.

From pre-conference symposia to education sessions, HIMSS AsiaPac12 offered an opportunity to network with the growing healthcare information industry's best minds.

The Interoperability Showcase provided an important opportunity for participants to come together with purchasers of clinical technologies. 60 leading companies showcased their cutting-edge technologies and innovative health IT solutions at the Exhibition.

The HIMSS Analytics Asia Pacific Stage 6 Award presentation was held at the Conference on the first day. Three hospitals were honoured for achieving Stage 6 on the EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM), namely Max Super Speciality Hospital East Wing (India), Max Super Speciality West Wing (India) and Prince Court Medical Centre (Malaysia).
